  <description>&lt;p&gt;Many of these sculptures were inspired by a study of the earliest mechanical inventions including clocks and mechanical toys.  They depict the grotesque &#8220;open body&#8221; with the bawdy laughter of the carnivalesque.  Familiar iconography is layered with a literal materiality for a communication that is at once visceral and emblematic.&lt;/p&gt;
